Simon’s life is pretty great. He’s in the final year of high school, his family are wonderful and his friends love him. There’s just one problem. Nobody knows Simon is gay.
When another closeted gay student posts an anonymous message on the school’s social media site, Simon emails him. A mutually supportive relationship develops but neither boy knows who the other one is. Will they ever meet?
Love, Simon (2018) is a warm-hearted comedy about the challenges that coming out still presents in a reasonably tolerant straight-majority society.
Simon, played by Jurassic World’s Nick Robinson, is an extremely likeable character. The storyline is very engaging with lots of twists and turns.
In the final 30 minutes I had a tear in my eye. Watch Love, Simon if you’re looking for a feel good film.
Certainly give it a go if you’re wondering how to respond next time someone comes out to you.
